PARENTS and teachers took the seaside to their school for the first fete of its kind.
The ‘Seaside Summer Fair’ was at Victoria C of E First School in Prince Edward Street, Berkhamsted.
The nursery was transformed with paddling pools and sandpits that had real shells, windbreaks, pretend rock pool creatures and a ‘sounds of the coast’ soundtrack.
Attractions included Punch and Judy shows, country dancing, choir performances, a raffle, silent auction, tombola, bouncy castle and facepainting.
The nursery seaside area was sponsored by Berkhamsted hairdressers Ciente Salon, of High Street, and the fair itself by estate agents Knight Frank, also of the town’s High Street.
Champneys of Tring donated the top auction prize of a luxury spa day for two.
The Parent Teacher Association Victoria School Association (VSA) organised the fete, which was from 10.30am to 2pm on Saturday.
The group want to raise £4,000 to resurface the school playground and replace some computers.
VSA chairman Luisa Clarke said: “It’s the first time we’ve had a seaside theme and all the children got really excited.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the businesses in Berkhamsted - it’s fantastic to have such a supportive local community.”
