AS pupils from across the country anxiously collected their results, students at JFK and Cavenish Schools in Hemel Hempstead apprehensively took the same steps.

JFK pupil Patrick Quinn, 18, was relieved he had achieved the grades he needed to follow in his brother Patrick’s footsteps and study medicine at university.

“I got two A* and two A grades so I’ve got my first choice of medicine at Keele. I’m very relieved and ecstatic.

“My brother’s a doctor now and I’m aiming for it too.”

At Cavendish School students gathered to discuss their results.

Vanessa Hadley-Spencer, 18, was delighted to have achieved what she needed.

She said: “I’m quite pleased. I’ve had lots of support and I’ve got in where I want.”
