PUPILS are basking in glory after their school enjoyed a double slice of success.
Berkhamsted Baptist Church Pre-School was awarded an Outstanding judgement from Ofsted.
The school has also successfully completed its Hertfordshire Quality Standards Scheme.
Pre-school leader, Ally Walker, who has led it for 15 years, said: “We are delighted to be able to have a double celebration which represents many years of hard work and commitment by the pre-school team.
“It has very much been a collaborative effort and could not have been done without the support and input of our staff, committee, parents and children.”
Ofsted visited in March for a routine but unannounced inspection and gave a verdict of ‘Outstanding’ in all areas – the highest plaudits given.
The inspection report said: “Children flourish in a child-centred, enabling environment.
“Highly effective partnerships between the pre-school, parents and others positively contribute to the setting’s knowledge of individual children and ensure individual children’s needs are met.”
The school was also informed it had completed the Hertfordshire Quality Standards Scheme and received its award from the Herts Chief Education Officer Justin Donovan at county headquarters in Stevenage.
The award follows 18 months of work towards the scheme, which aims to ensure childcare providers are improving and developing through a process of self-evaluation.
The school celebrated the success on Wednesday, May 25.
