A GIRL has reached the semi-finals of a competition to win a £30,000 cooking scholarship.

If she wins, Isabel Wallace-Hadrill, 16, of Coombe Gardens, Berkhamsted, will also serve as the apprentice of Tom Aikens, Britain’s youngest chef to win two Michelin stars.

Isabel, pictured, said: “I was absolutely ecstatic when I heard I got this far. It is amazing.”

She was up against more than 60 others initially, competing for a place at 116-year-old cookery school Le Cordon Bleu’s new state-of-the-art base in Bloomsbury Square, London, beginning when she is 18.

She said: “Going to such a prestigious place was terrifying, but everyone was really nice and supportive.”

Isabel was interviewed for the semi-finals of the competition on Monday. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, February 7.
