Drought predictions see canal festival cancelled again

The decision to cancel the 2013 Wendover Arm Trust Canal festival follows the charity’s successful sponsored walk that was held to replace this year’s cancelled canal festival.

Chairman of the Wendover Arm Trust (WAT) Graeme Lockhart said: “With the drought as bad as it was, if we have a dry winter we will be in the same situation next year.”

Cash is still being counted from Walk An Arm’s Length event on Sunday, September 2, but it looks to have raised thousands of pounds for WAT after attracting about 388 participants.

The main event for 2013 has not yet been decided.
