Doubts raised over access to new Adeyfield public toilets

DOUBTS have been raised about the availability of public toilets in Adeyfield once they are reprovided in the community centre.

Emails released under the Freedom of Information Act reveal council chiefs have back-tracked on opening the toilets from 7am to 5pm all week and settled on 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

During evenings and weekends they will be open only when an event is on at the centre.

The emails also reveal doubt about the commitment of the community centre to take on the job of providing toilets.

Steve Tarbox, an officer at Dacorum Borough Council, said: “Previously the community centre didn’t want to know about the public having access to their toilets.”

Councillor Keith White, Labour group spokesman, said: “They should not be putting this onus on the community centre. They should open the public toilets properly.”
