A life-saving air ambulance service run on donations has put out a warning about suspected bogus clothes collections being carried out in its name.
The Herts Air Ambulance was contacted by a Kings Langley householder who had received a clothes bag, and it is believed the same scheme or similar is also operating in Hemel Hempstead.
Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust spokesman Hannah Ashby said: “As a charity we don’t do door-to-door collections for textiles.
“It is upsetting to know that people are giving in good faith and unfortunately we are not benefiting.
“If people do want to support us, we do have a number of clothes recycling banks at different locations – that is our way of raising money through recycled clothes.”
The nearest bank is at Hemel Hempstead Town Football Club in Vauxhall Road, Hemel Hempstead.
