Dignitaries will attend the launch of Hemel food garden project

ABOUT 80 people including two mayors have been invited to the launch of the Hemel Food Garden.

The event on Friday, May 11 is for the individuals and organisations that have been involved in getting the community nursery and food garden project off the ground.

Mayor of Dacorum councillor Gillian Chapman, mayor of Berkhamsted councillor Carol Green and the new High Sheriff of Hertfordshire Arabella Stuart-Smith will join guests on a tour of the site in Two Waters Road.

They will take part in planting, meet the service users and be given a presentation on the history and future vision for the project.

Spokesman Maggie Grand said: “We are still waiting for planning permission for change of use of the garage to a shop and once that happens we will be able to open to the public.”

Sunnyside Rural Trust took over the site last year and will sell produce it grows across all its sites.
