The design of a proposed two house development was commended by some councillors as they considered a planning application for the scheme.

But not all were in favour of the four-bedroom properties proposed for a plot of land, which currently houses a 1960s bungalow in Park View Road, Berkhamsted.

One man, who lives in the road and spoke in opposition to the plan at Dacorum Borough Council’s development control committee on Thursday, said: “The whole street is very against this development, purely because of the bulk and size.

“We feel that on that side of the road there should be a single house.”

The design of the homes, which each have two on-site parking spaces, has been taken from the Edwardian properties directly opposite the development site.

Councillors voted to approve the plan.
