Decision due on Hemel town centre strip club plan

A decision was due to be made last night on whether plans for a town centre lapdancing club in Hemel Hempstead can go ahead.

After 8 Entertainment, which already runs a strip club in Luton, wants to open the business at the former Indy Jax nightclub in Marlowes.

Under the plans there will be adult entertainment from 8pm to 3am Sunday to Thursday and 8pm to 6am on Fridays, Saturdays and bank holidays.

The decision on whether it is given the green light is down to Dacorum Borough Council’s licensing committee.

Four objections have been submitted to the committee - three from concerned householders and another from Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning. Concerns have also been raised by chiefs at Herts Constabulary.

A lapdancing venue was last year given the go ahead for the historic Old Town. However, the business has not yet opened.
