Hip hop royalty came to Hemel Hempstead on Saturday to lead a street dance masterclass for young dancers.

Pioneering American dancer Brooklyn Terry and Bobby ‘Mileage’ Barnette – who has danced on tour for Mariah Carey –both from the Elite Force crew led the two-hour workshop for dance school United Grooves at John F Kennedy School.

Organiser and dance teacher Tania Diggory said: “The kids loved it and everyone was queueing for their autographs at the end.”

“I’m hoping to run more workshops when they’re next back in the UK.

“My passion is to develop the education of hip hop culture in the UK to help people understand what real hip hop is about.”

Elise Cabral, 11, who took part in the workshop, said: “It’s educational because you are learning from people who have been in the industry since the start. You know that what they teach you is the best.

“The best bit was when we had a Q&A session because it gave us feel for what inspired them and what we can do to get better.”
