Dozens of vans were pulled over and checked in a police swoop to catch rogue traders this morning.
Patrol cars and bikes stationed around Hemel Hempstead stopped all work vans and escorted them to Jarman Park, where the drivers were quizzed.
Det Sgt Duncan Woodhams, of Operation Manhunt, said: “The aim is to try and find rogue traders, people picking on the elderly and vulnerable and taking them for a ride, for their savings.
“The motorcyclists bring them in and all the agencies have a chat with the driver and make sure everything is being done by the book.”
The team also included officials from the Department for Work and Pensions and the council checking for benefit fraud and other crimes.
Operation Manhunt focuses on doorstep conmen, rogue traders and burglaries against the elderly.
