Man battered by thugs after refusing them a cigarette in late night robbery in Hemel Hempstead

A man was left with serious injuries after being savagely attacked by a group of men in a late night robbery.

The incident took place at around midnight on Friday when the victim was confronted by three white men in Lamsey Road, Hemel Hempstead.

After refusing one of the men a cigarette, the victim was punched and kicked repeatedly in the stomach and back before the attackers made off with his packet of cigarettes.

He was left with serious bruising, including a stamp mark on his back.

The three attackers are described as being between 20 and 25 years old. Two of them were around 5ft 6ins, while the other was around 6ft tall.

The taller man spoke with an Irish accent, and the thugs were also carrying a black and white hockey stick.

Investigating officer DS Laurie Rush said: “This was a nasty robbery which resulted in the victim sustaining some serious injuries.”
