A MAN has been charged with keeping the bodies of a Himalayan black bear, an orangutan and other endangered species in a freezer.

Taxidermist Simon Wilson, 49, is charged with seven offences linked to the trade of endangered species, fraud and money laundering following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Wildlife Crime Unit.

The bear, orangutan, a mandrill, a mandrill skeleton, a leopard skin, a peregrine falcon, black kite, Asian arowana, 11 rooks, two red-legged partridges, a black-headed gull and a chaffinch were discovered hidden inside a freezer within Wilson’s workshop at Game Farm, Bovingdon.

Wilson, of Canterbury Way, Croxley Green, appeared at the City of Westminster Magistrates Court yesterday when his case was adjourned until Tuesday, September 6.
