Mock trials will be run at a court in a bid to entice people to join the legal system.

St Albans Magistrates’ Court will open its doors on Saturday, January 28, when guests will get to meet local magistrates.

All criminal cases, from speeding to murder, are first heard at these courts.

Magistrates, who are trained volunteers, work in teams of three, with the support of a legal advisor.

The court, in St Peter’s Street, will be open from 10am to 1pm. For more information visit www.direct.gov.uk/magistrates
