A pilot scheme designed to help adults with learning difficulties stay safe in their community has been hailed a resounding success.

The Hemel Hempstead Safer Neighbourhood Team, Dacorum Community Learning Disability Team and Herts Fire and Rescue Service teamed up to offer the first-ever Think Safe course in Tring.

Six adults took the four week workshop, where they learned how to keep themselves safe from crime, and to gain enough confidence that when issues arise, they know how to interact with their local authorities.

Sergeant Adele Hopkin said: “ We designed the course to encourage people from the local community with learning difficulties to report any issues they have and understand who they need to talk to about different issues.”
