Firefighters were quick to avert a potentially dangerous situation when they were called to deal with a lorry that was leaking chemicals at a petrol station.

Two crews from Hemel Hempstead and two from St Albans were called to Watling Street filling station in London Road, Flamstead, at 3.39pm on Monday where an articulated lorry was leaking mixed chemicals from a sealed container.

Firefighters covered the spillage in case it was flammable, and the scene was cleared just after 4pm.
