A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.
CARERS IN HERTFORDSHIRE
This charity, which supports unpaid family or friend carers, is looking for a website content creator.
The organisation’s website is a key marketing tool, used as both an information source for existing carers, professionals and volunteers and for signposting for interested parties.
The role could be carried out from home as a short term project with an occasional visit to offices in Hertford.
The role involves creating new website pages for carer support groups with generic information and then creating links to individual pages for each group.
Each group would also need to be consulted about planned activities to be included for their area, either in person or by phone.
The role needs someone with experience of using CMS. Joomla experience would be an advantage, but you would need knowledge of internet and Microsoft applications and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. You could gain experience of helping others, use or enhance your current skills, and boost your CV.
BREAKAWAY FOR CARERS
This Herts County Council service enables relatives and friends looking after dependent people of any age to take breaks by arranging for someone else to take over.
Volunteer sitters experienced in looking after dependent people are matched carefully with those who need this sort of help. Sitters stay with a person in their own home to provide support and companionship.
This can be on a regular or occasional basis while their usual carer takes a few hours off.
You need to be at least 18, a good listener, caring and reliable and a clean driving licence is preferred.
HOSPICE OF ST FRANCIS
Hospice charity shops in Abbotts Langley, Kings Langley and Berkhamsted are looking for friendly volunteers to assist with tagging and steaming donations and replenishing and merchandising stock.
Times to suit, no gender restrictions and volunteers can be aged from 14 upwards.
