Hard-working employees at the Amazon fulfilment centre in Hemel Hempstead were treated to a live performance by country duo The Shires.

The singer-songwriters played an acoustic set, surrounded by a circle of 800 Amazon staff, before they took part in the hotly-contested celebrity gift wrap challenge, taken on by the likes of previous contestants Olly Murs, One Direction and Little Mix.

Ben clocked up one minute six seconds, and Crissie one minute twenty-two seconds - miles behind One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson’s rapid 15.9 seconds.

The appearance also included an exclusive album signing and meet and greet sessions with Amazon.co.uk staff to thank them for their hard work in delivering Christmas gifts to the UK public during the festive season.

Crissie, who lives in Bedfordshire, said: “All the machines stopped and it fell silent before we performed on two separate podiums. It was really good fun!”

Ben, who also hails from Bedfordshire, said: “We are very proud to be English and while we spent a lot of time recording in Nashville in the US, we always love coming home to the Shire.”
