ASHRIDGE Estate neighbours fear that they could soon be sharing the National Trust site with former Dale Farm gypsies.
The eviction of the travellers from their illegal Essex caravan site, where they set up a base on Green Belt land, started yesterday.
At a meeting of Little Gaddesden Parish Council on Monday, PC Stuart Francis said villagers had asked him how police would keep them from settling in Ashridge.
But he said: “It is quite a hard thing to cover, because this is such a vast area.
“We have not had any intelligence to suggest they will be moving this way – but if residents get an idea that people are moving in, call us immediately.
“It is a lot harder to move them on if they are there for longer than 24 hours.”
