Hope for Children's events and volunteer manager Rachel Simkin is running the Virgin Money London Marathon to raise money for the charity.

A woman who works for Hemel Hempstead-based charity Hope For Children is also running the London Marathon in support of the cause.

Rachel Simkin, 27, of Great Gaddesden, is the charity’s events and volunteer manager and hopes to raise £2,500 towards its work helping street children around the world.

Rachel, who trains with Tring Running Club, said: “My real focus is to run for my family and help support disadvantaged children. I wouldn’t be getting up at 6.30am every weekend if it wasn’t for the generosity of my family and friends’ donations. I look back to my childhood memories and the pain on the day will be nothing compared to the pain experienced by the street children that Hope supports.”

All funds raised from Rachel’s efforts will be going towards projects which assist street children in Delhi, India and Kisenye in Kampala, Uganda. Visit virginmoneygiving.com/rachelsimkin1 to donate.
