An MP has promised to hold rail operator London Midland to account following train health fears.

Andrew Selous, who represents Leighton Buzzard, has written to the company’s managing director to push for more Saturday rail services as packed-out carriages force rail users to ‘stand like sardines’.

The London Midland line from Leighton Buzzard picks up more passengers through Dacorum stations on its way to Euston.

Mr Selous said: “People have the right to visit family, go and see shows or whatever leisure activity they wish; and there are a lot of people who work at the weekend too who need a decent service.”

London Midland says it has plans to introduce more carriages – at a cost of £1 million each – to the rail line serving Dacorum stations as well as Leighton Buzzard in 2014.
