VOLUNTEER CENTRE DACORUM
No time to wrap presents this year? Why not take them to Hemel Hempstead’s Riverside Shopping Centre – opposite H&M – and let volunteers from Cavendish School do the job for you?
Volunteer Centre Dacorum has teamed up with pupils from the school in Warners End Road, Hemel Hempstead, and a business mentor from Dacorum Borough Council to take part in the Dragons Apprentice Challenge.
The challenge facing these young entrepreneurs is to turn £100 in to £1,000 by February – and one way they aim to meet this target is by holding charity Christmas gift wrap sessions on Thursdays and Saturdays in the run up to the big day.
All money raised goes to support the centre’s work in the community.
The charity supports more than 350 good causes and in the last year alone recruited over 1,300 volunteers.
BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION
The British Heart Foundation urgently needs volunteers to help at its charity shop in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead.
This shop is full of fabulous donated goods, everything from pre-loved fashions and books to bric-a- brac.
If you are a fashionista with a love of shoes and bags, a bookworm or just a big kid at heart then maybe you could help out in the book room, accessories or toy department.
General assistants are also needed to sort donations, steam clothing to make garments look their best, welcome customers and keep the shop floor clean and tidy.
The charity also needs a well-organised volunteer with a good telephone manner to help out behind the scenes and generate more stock.
This is a crucial role as they rely heavily on donations to raise money for research into heart disease and support for sufferers. The role involves booking collections in for customers and contacting businesses that could offer a home to a collection bin or bank. Times can be arranged to suit individuals.
