A man with hearing difficulties has put himself to the test to raise money for the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Simon Stevenson of Tring ran the Beachy Head marathon at Eastbourne – his second this year – in four hours and 44 minutes.

He said: “The weather was windy but sunny and the course was very challenging with many hills and steps which 99 per cent of the runners, including myself, walked up.”

The 46 year old is still counting donations.
