Callous thieves who swiped wrapped presents and other valuables from a car on Christmas Day are being hunted by police investigating the burglary.

The heartless incident happened in Berkeley Square, Hemel Hempstead, between 12 noon and 6.30pm on Christmas Day, when Nisha Wilson and her partner Anthony Serrano visited family in Woodhall Farm.

The pair parked just 20 yards from the house but the 2011-plate black Audi A3 belonging to Anthony, 27, was broken into before crooks raided the glove box and stole items from the front of the vehicle and the boot.

A sat nav, a brown leather holdall and a number of wrapped Christmas presents were taken.

Nisha, 25, said the presents were being taken to her family’s home in Peterborough later that day, and included CDs and computer games for her relatives.

She said: “We would just like our stuff back.

“We’re still in shock – it ruined our Christmas.

“Have a heart – if you’ve got any moral conscience, just give the items back.”

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time is asked to contact Herts Police using the non-emergency number 101 quoting the crime reference number D1/14/7814.
