Sunnyside Rural Trust Ann Kerr and chickens

New chickens have arrived at Sunnyside Rural Trust’s Northchurch site to the delight of trainees and staff alike following the depletion of the flock due to fox attacks over the summer.

Thanks to the generosity of people adopting a chicken and financial support from Berkhamsted and Bulbourne Rotary and the Neighbourly Charitable Trust, Sunnyside has been able to build protective runs for the chickens to keep them safe.

Site manager Ray Deacon said: “Everyone wanted this situation resolved quickly and worked so hard. It wasn’t an easy task moving the coups but we did it and now that the chickens are here the heart is back in Northchurch.

“I’d like to thank the whole team and volunteers who have helped us. Now we’d like all our customers to know that eggs are back on sale.”
