A BUMPER turnout at a charity garden party has raised a staggering £14,000.

Crowds were queuing at the gates to support the Hospice of St Francis on Sunday.

Ashridge Business School, near Berkhamsted, played host to the event where there were a record number of stall holders offering their wares.

Among them was Sasha Leake from Pantry Cupcakes who attended for the first time and sold out of her delicious goodies within two hours.

She said: “What a fantastic event, everyone was so happy and the atmosphere was very joyful.”

Other stalls were offering arts and crafts, along with locally produced wine and foods.

There was a dedicated kidzone for little ones where star guests Punch and Judy proved a hit. The money raised will go towards the care provided by the Berkhamsted-based hospice to patients with life-limiting illnesses.
