A developer is keeping schtum about its plans for the former police station it bought for £2,620,000 six weeks ago.
It is believed that Beechcroft Developments – the firm that converted Tring’s Rose and Crown Inn into retirement properties – wants to turn the cop shop into homes and retail outlets
But this website has had no confirmation of its plans despite first contacting the developer several weeks ago.
Reporter for this website David O’Neill asked users of the Everything Berko Facebook page yesterday what they thought should be done with Berkhamsted High Street’s former Greggs. The bakery has been closed since mid-March.
In response, Sarah Nash said: “What I’d like to know is what’s happening with the police station? It’s been vacant for quite a long time now. It’s a shame to have that building completely empty.”
The huge property – which sits at the central crossroads between the High Street, Kings Road and Lower Kings Road – has been unoccupied for more than two years.
The police who were based there are now based in Berkhamsted Civic Centre.
