A butcher’s bangers have won a gold award in a national competition.
Eastwoods of Berkhamsted bagged the top gong for its Old English Pork Sausages - made from free range Blythburgh pork with sage, parsley and thyme - at the Smithfield Awards.
A total of 479 meaty delights from 54 Q Guild butchers, which is made up of the UK’s best butchers, were entered to the annual contest.
Eastwoods also won six silver awards and one bronze for its range of tasty creations including burgers, pies and quiche.
Owner of the butchers Keith Smith said: “I am delighted with our awards. The Smithfield awards are highly regarded by independent butchers and are only awarded for products that meet the very highest quality criteria.
“It is recognition by the industry of the high standard of work accomplished by our staff. All the products we entered are developed and produced entirely on our premises by our very competent and creative staff.”
The competition is judged by independent panels of food and meat industry experts.
