PEOPLE can now enjoy more curry as a new Indian restaurant has opened in town.

Jalsa is based in Berkhamsted High Street and its owners estimate that it made more than £500 for Iain Rennie Hospice at Home during a first-night fundraiser last Wednesday.

Co-owner Shah Uddin has opened two previous restaurants in Stoke-on-Trent and Kettering, and he’s been in the business for more than 12 years.

He said: “I think there’s a real need for fine Indian dining for the people of Berkhamsted.

“The atmosphere here is very grand and we have an award-winning chef. It is a very exclusive, upmarket restaurant and I have used the finest crockery and crystal glass.

“The emphasis is very much on the food and its presentation and we are offering a complete dining experience that is very individual.”
