Walk this way toward £100,000 roadworks
PEDESTRIAN-friendly road improvements worth more than £100,000 will kick off in Hemel Hempstead in February.
Streets in Grovehill, Adeyfield and Highfield will benefit from the work though motorists are being warned of ‘some degree of disruption and delay’.
Outside Aycliffe Drive School a pedestrian crossing is to be installed while the crossing points across Hunting Gate and Runcorn Crescent will be improved.
Bollards will also be sunk into the ground in Hunting Gate to stop people parking on the verges.
In Queens Square crossing points will be narrowed and restrictions introduced to stop inappropriate parking around them.
Cycle parking facilities are also due to be built around the square.
Meanwhile, a new pedestrian crossing will be installed on Queensway near the junction with St Pauls Road.
New crossing points will also be constructed on St Pauls Road and Cattsdell.
Queensway is due to be closed for around three days during the work, but during off-peak times.
Phil Bibby, deputy cabinet member for highways and transport at Herts County Council, said: “Some degree of disruption and delay is to be expected as a result of these essential works to improve pedestrian access in the area.
“While we do not anticipate any significant impact on local roads, we would like to thank residents and road users for their patience and understanding.”
