‘Premier League’ Kings Langley technology company scoops top accolade at inaugural chamber of commerce awards

A KINGS Langley-based technology company has won a major category at the Inspiring Hertfordshire 2012 Awards.

Imagination Technologies, in Home Park Industrial Estate, scooped the Innovation Through Technology category sponsored by Veolia.

Imagination Technologies creates and licences system-on-chip software used in a number of applications. It also develops and manufactures of connected audio and DAB digital radios and other consumer products.

The judges said as a result of its work and the design and production of graphic micro processors, intellectual property licensing and digital radio production, Imagination Technologies is now not only one of the leading companies but now holds a position within the world’s premier league.

One of the judges said: “This is what innovation is about with a clear strategy, outstanding product and clear vision. Hertfordshire can and should be proud of them.”

The Porsche Centre, Hatfield, hosted the awards night, in front of more than 300 guests, on May 17. The inaugural Inspiring Hertfordshire awards were organised by Herts Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Headline sponsors were Exemplas and University of Hertfordshire.

Herts Chamber chief executive, Tim Hutchings, said: “The number of entries we received exceeded our expectations and were all of a very high standard. Our judges had a very difficult task.”

The overall Business of the Year, and winner of the year’s worth of integrated marketing support donated by Royston-based Kiss Communications was won by Austin’s Funeral Service.

£3,000 was raised on the night by a raffle in aid of Herts Chamber of Commerce Chairman’s Charity Fund which will give donations to worthy causes throughout the year.

l The shortlist for the Dacorum Business of the year, at the FSB Hertfordshire Small Business Awards 2012, has been announced. The firms in the running are: Tasty Lunch, MND Bookkeeping Services, Serene Beauty & Day Spa and Shipmore Ltd.
