Glass problem at skate ramp

DANGER: A skate ramp remains closed as its owners can’t find the £4,500 they need to make it safe.

Northchurch Parish Council has put ‘Danger: Keep off’ signs in front of it – but its chairman Alan Fantham said many people just ignore them.

He said: “It has a glass fibre surface and the surface is fading away, so if you are on it without gloves and you fall off, you can get little glass fibres in your hand.”

The group had applied to be given £4,500 for the repairs at Northchurch Recreation Ground at a public vote for most deserving good causes in September – but lost.

It has since applied for other grants for the work, but keeps being refused and doesn’t want to increase council tax to pay for it.
