AN anti-crime partnership in Dacorum has won a major national award for the second year running.

Dacorum Business Against Crime (DBAC) received the award for outstanding contribution to community safety at the Association Of Business Crime Partnerships national conference in Coventry.

The award recognises the work of the partnership to be more inclusive and accessible to smaller businesses. It was also praised for hosting a recent conference on resilience in the town centre.

Last year DBAC, which brings local business together with the police, fire service and council, received a safer business award and a national award for innovation in partnership excellence.

DBAC, a not for profit social enterprise, was set up four years ago. It operates a radio link scheme on behalf of its members and manages the child safe zone for Hemel Hempstead town centre.

The partnership is now expanding into Berkhamsted and Tring as well as local shopping areas like Adeyfield and Grovehill.

Roy Aldwin, crime manager for DBAC said: “This is a excellent example of partnership working and with the support of everyone involved is moving forward and expanding while many organisations of this type are finding it difficult to.”
