Animal blogs boost web hits
A marketing firm has used its animal instinct to create a wildlife sanctuary's website - complete with blogs from inmates.
Designers at Silver Chair built the site for Italian charity Nata Libera, that rehabilitates injured and abandoned animals, to promote its work around the world.
The Hemel Hempstead web agency even incorporated dialogue directly from animals who have been rescued to give visitors a light hearted insight into the charity's work.
Terry Childs, Silver Chair's creative director said: "This was an emotive and satisfying challenge.
The site contains blog technology together with facilities to communicate with potential sponsors, visitors and schools."
The website, www.natalibera.org, launched this month (March) and aims to link the charity with the rest of the world.
Mr Childs said: "Nata Libera offers a lifeline to stray and injured animals and is reliant on public donations and visitors to maintain its presence.
"The organisation needed a web site which would promote visits to the sanctuary while encouraging its use as a learning resource for schools."
Animals at Nata Libera, based in the Alps, have suffered cruelty or injury, strayed, been abandoned or held in captivity.
The animals, that include dogs, donkeys, llamas and sheep, are rehabilitated at the sanctuary before efforts are made to find them new homes.
Angela Revel, who runs the centre, said, "It was vital that we employed
a company that could deliver on a number of fronts.
"Creatively the site had to reflect the sanctuary's ethos and aspirations, technically it had to be easy to up-date, change and manage by us and our staff, and critically it also had to have facilities in place for us to raise much needed funding."
