The Gazette’s bright new look has been going down a storm this week, thanks to a makeover that marks the final stage of an ambitious makeover programme tapping into the skills of the best designers in the business.

It began two years ago when the Gazette made the change from broadsheet format to the more popular compact size.

At the same time we introduced a whole raft of new features to make the Gazette an even more relevant read, and it proved a big hit.

Since then we’ve overhauled our sister paper, the HeraldExpress, to provide a more modern, easier to read format and also upgraded the look of our websites to improve the experience for the thousands of visitors who log on every day for the latest news.

The last piece in the jigsaw is the Gazette’s new look, which we have created after detailed research into what readers want.

The pages are clearer and cleaner, and we’re be giving a fresh focus to pictures while looking to provide an even more comprehensive news service.

The sections you’ve told us are important to you are still be an important part of the mix, but we won’t hold back from introducing new features.

Readers who sign up for a subscription can always make big savings, but this week there’s been an extra special offer for customers at the Marks & Spencer store in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, who could claim a £10 M&S voucher to spend on the spot as well as the attractive discounts on the cost of their weekly read – down from 75p to 56p, a 25 per cent saving, with a subcription.

Nicki Atkinson of the Gazette’s newspaper sales team said: “People have been very impressed by the new look and we have been steadily signing up readers who were amazed by the big discount on offer.

“We think loyal readers should be rewarded, and if you buy the paper every week there’s a big saving to be had. A Gazette subscription makes a novel Christmas present, too!”

Marks & Spencer has been a Marlowes fixture for more than 40 years, and is recognised as one of the town centre’s magnet shopping destinations.

It’s had a makeover of its own this year, with a February refit providing all sorts of benefits to customers.

And the subscription offer is just one example of how the store looks to come up with extra benefits for shoppers.

M&S has just launched its online Christmas shop, a real one-stop destination for everything you need to make the festive season memorable
