TRADERS enjoyed a day of cake while plugging their home-grown produce.
The Saturday stall-holders gave out the tasty treat at Berkhamsted Market to celebrate their group’s 50th anniversary. Berkhamsted Country Market also bought a new stall to replace one dating back to 1961 to celebrate its big day.
Group chairman Eileen Heylin said: “The new stall looks more in keeping with the 21st century.
“With the growing interest in local food I dare say the stall, if not the current members, will still be here after another 50 years.”
The group sells cakes, quiches and pies, fresh produce from members’ gardens, flowers, plants and more.
Anyone who can cook or grow produce can join the group by approaching its stall or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The cake-giving day was on July 6.
