A 30 year-old company is proving the internet and the high street can complement each other.

Temptation Gifts was founded in 1983 in Berkhamsted by Sheena and Mike Adams, when shops ruled the roost and the internet was a twinkle in techie eyes.

The independent company finished in the top four in the category Best Specialist Multiple Gift Retailer and won Best Online Retailer of Gifts category at the national gift industry awards.

The fact it has won the online award three years running is something which Temptation head of ecommerce Joel Adams is proud. He said the company’s online presence takes its customer service ethos direct from the shops, one of which is in High Street, Berkhamsted.

The awards, known as The Greats, is organised by gift industry magazine Progressive Gifts and Home. Temptation managing director Mike Adams said: “We absolutely understand we’d be nothing without the support and loyalty of everyone in Berkhamsted and all our towns – and all our online shoppers, too”
