Another Berkhamsted eatery is now in the middle of a plush makeover.

The work at I Love Food in Lower Kings Road, began on Sunday, January 19, and is expected to be finished by the second week of March.

The business was a coffee shop and cafe before it closed, but will be a fully fledged restaurant by the time it reopens.

Co-owner Alessia Aliotta said: “We are having a makeover and we are expanding into the unit next to us as well. It will be double the size.

“We are refurbishing it into a modern style that we are keeping secret until we reopen for the customers to see.

“We are really looking forward to reopening, because we will have a lovely meal menu for the evening and a very nice wine list. A lot of things are going on here.

“We invested more than £60,000 on the refurbishment, so it’s going to look very nice and different to everything else in Berkhamsted at the moment.”

The eatery will have a Mediterranean theme and will be kitted out with new furniture and a new outdoor seating area,

It will also have between six and eight new waiters and waitresses, two new chefs and a new restaurant manager who will move here from Malta.

The makeover follows the refurbishment of Ask in Berkhamsted High Street
