A gold star for a very fine jam

The owner of a farm shop has once again received on of the prestigious gold stars for her produce at the Great Taste Awards 2014.

Sarah Murray, owner of Beechwood Fine Foods in Frogmore Street, Tring, entered her Gooseberry and Elderflower jam into the food contest.

A mouth watering 10,000 products were entered into the competition known as the food oscars.

Judges said that Sarah’s jam had the ‘aroma of ripe table gooseberries backed up by a touch of elderflower. Delightful gooseberry flabour and acidity. The texture is truly terrific - a delightful preserve in so many ways.”

The latest gold star follows Sarah’s success last year, when she bagged numerous awards for her Victoria plum jam, boozy berry jam and Old Doverhouse chutney - all part of the Beechwood own brand homemade range of jams, chutney and preserves.

Sarah said: “I’m absolutely delighted with my win, it makes all the hard work worth it. Toby (Sarah’s husband) and I are passionate about the quality and provenance of foods we offer to our customers and the award of Great Taste stamps is a seal of approval on our efforts.”
