A DOG-OWNER has been ordered to pay more than £3,000 in compensation to two farmers after his pets attacked their sheep.

Guy Attenborough, 49, of Hudnall Common, Little Gaddesden, pleaded guilty to letting his dogs roam in an area where there is livestock at Hertford Magistrates Court.

Attenborough, head of communications at the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, was also told to pay a £600 fine, £85 in court costs and a £15 victim surchage.

He was charged after his two pointer dogs, which were out on their own, mauled sheep at Home Farm in Nettleden Road, Potten End on Saturday, March 14.

Vanessa Connor, 46, and her partner’s artificially inseminated pedigree sheep are worth up to £3,000. Partner Daniel Bunting, 41, even won the prestigious Royal Show in 2006 for the quality of his livestock.
