Burglaries rise ‘at this time’

Householders are being warned to review security as thieves take advantage of the darker evenings.

The alarm is being sounded after burglars used a plant pot to smash through patio doors at a house in Squirrel Chase, Hemel Hempstead, on Thursday evening and stole jewellery.

Police community support officer Lee Jevon said: “We traditionally see an increase in burglary at this time of year.”
