An energetic schoolboy pedalled from Hemel Hempstead to Watford’s Cassiobury Park – and back – along the canal and raised £100 for the Hospice of St Francis.

Taylor Harris, 12, of Bennetts End, biked the route with dad Jez in memory of his grandad, Peter Marriott. The Northchurch hospice cared for Peter before he passed away from cancer in 2011, so Taylor decided he wanted to give something back and raise money for the charity.

Dad Jez said: “My father-in-law was a really lovely bloke, and he would have been so proud. Me and Taylor’s mum Kerry are so proud of our son and his big, caring heart.”
