Berkhamsted walkers raise thousands for charity

GOOD-HEARTED hikers have raised £4,300 for charity.

There were 12 and 18 mile circular routes from The Court House in Church Lane during the Berkhamsted Walk on Sunday – and a third six-miler from Ashridge House.

Walkers raised a minimum of £30 each in sponsorship for The Children’s Society. More than 200 took part.

Abbot’s Hill School in Hemel Hempstead entered 26 students, five staff and various parents.

Organiser Ann Browning said: “Everyone really enjoyed the walk and the bluebells had really come on quite nicely in that sunshine.

“It was fantastic and just unbelievable that we should have that little window of sunshine over the weekend between the rain.”

Organisers hope that by the time all sponsorship cash has been collected, they will be able to give The Children’s Society £5,500 or more.
