Plea to pick up dog mess

A parish council has appealed to dog owners to poop scoop their pets' waste.

Residents in Bovingdon raised the issue of dog mess during a meeting of the village council on Monday (March 1).

A councillor has even been dedicated to the problem in a bid to crackdown. Speaking at the meeting, Councillor Diane Smart said it was time to get the borough's dog warden involved.

Council chairman Tony Trigg also asked the clerk to request that the village warden patrol problem areas at certain times.

In an attempt to curb the problem, Cllr Smart said she had even delivered dog waste to one offending dog owner's doorstep after spotting the resident leaving poo in the street.

"I picked it up and put it on the person's doorstep. Perhaps they will take the hint, they need to put it in the bin," she said.
