Hundreds raised in urgent aid collection
Villagers raised almost £850 in urgent funds for aid in East Africa.
A Little Gaddesden door-to-door collection was organised by Penny Hackett and veteran collector Mollie Martin, who started the collection over thirty years ago in the village, just before Christmas.
The team battled through severe weather to raise money for drought-stricken communities in East Africa.
"All eyes have been turned to the desperate situation in Haiti where the need is immense," said Berkhamsted Oxfam shop manager Jane Hockings. "But there is also a crisis in East Africa where drought is affecting some 23 million people. Some places have had no rain for four years. We are very grateful to everyone in Little Gaddesden and to our loyal band of supporters for their help."
