MATTHEW Loddy has now completed his 100 marathons in 100 days charity challenge – but he’s still short of his £100,000 fundraising target.

So far, the 46-year-old managing director has raised almost £80,000 for The Hospice of St Francis in Northchurch and the Teenage Cancer Trust.

He ran from Lagos in Portugal to the UK, finishing his task with the London Marathon on Sunday, April 22.

But he’s not stopped running yet – the Kings Langley man will take part in the Watford 10K Charity Fun Run on Bank Holiday Monday.

He’s trying to get 100 people to join him in the race and raise sponsorship for his two chosen causes.

That’s not to mention his regular runs with ultra-marathon trainer Cliff King.

Cliff said: “Matthew did amazing. It has all been very emotional and it’s a great achievement – but I know he’s in a lot of pain at the moment.

“Physically he lives to run now and his body has become acclimatised to it. I want to try to get him involved into some 100-mile-plus races.”

Matthew, of Watford Road, is not so sure about that.

He said: “I am very pleased the 100 marathons are done.”

He ran in memory of Phil Latham, his former work colleague at Framework Foundations in Northbridge Road, Berkhamsted, who died aged 36 in 2010.

Phil’s widow Karen, who had two children with him, said: “I thought Matthew was mad, but we knew he would do it.”

Phil was cared for by The Hospice of St Francis before he died. Donate to Matthew at www.frameworkfoundation.co.uk
