Beauty spots commended

Two beauty spots have been voted among the best and most-loved in the country.

A two-mile walk through Ashridge Estate woods was the sixth most downloaded walk listed on the National Trust website.

During the period covered from January 1 to August 13 this year, 3,304 people downloaded the route for the Ashridge Wildlife Walk.

The walk is centred around Bridgewater Monument, which was constructed in 1832 to in memory of Francis Egerton, the third Duke of Bridgewater, who died in 1803.

The Woodland Trust last year ranked Tring Park one of the UK's 20 most scenic areas.

They planned to double its number of visitors through a a 200,000 grant to combine parking for the park with the National History Museum.
