A BOOZER that has been transformed into a family-friendly pub opened to a packed house of customers on Saturday.

Catherine Brown, the new landlady of the Black Horse in Tring, said that there were so many people at the launch that the event felt like a baptism of fire.

Catherine sold her share in Puccino’s cafe at Hemel Hempstead railway station to take over the lease at the Punch Taverns-owned pub with her husband Peter. They held a launch to show off the pub’s refurbishment and new menu to friends, family, local business owners and customers.

Catherine said: “It was four deep at the bar all night and lots of families came in on Sunday asking for roasts, which we are starting this week.”
