Award-winning Berko get ready for second ever season

Berkhamsted FC rounded off their successful first season by scooping four awards at the Molten Spartan South Midlands League AGM.

The MSSML Division Two champions received a pennant to commemorate winning the league whilst striker Lawrence Bunker, who arrived from Pitstone and Ivinghoe mid-way through the season, won the Golden Boot after bagging 41 goals all in all.

The Comrades also took the best programme award in the division and received a certificate for the best hospitality towards match officials in Division Two at the awards in Tring on Saturday.

Their promotion to Division One - where they will face the likes of local rivals Kings Langley and fellow newbies London Lions and St Albans City Reserves - was confirmed with the campaign beginning on Saturday, August 7 this year

Pre-season training will begin on Thursday, July 1. New players can come along if they think they have what it takes to break into the team.

Berko Reserves, under the eye of Danny Johnson, will play in the Suburban League North from August 21.

They will take on second sides from clubs including Borehamwood, Leverstock Green and Tring Athletic.

The new U18 mid-week outfit will compete in the Delphian Division of the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League where teams from Hemel Hempstead Town, Kings Langley and Leverstock Green all ply their trade.
